SWANA COMMENTS ON PROPOSED NATIONAL GREENHOUSE GAS CONTROL PROGRAM Tuesday, March 20, 2007 (795 reads)
Silver Spring, MD (Mar. 20, 2007) – The Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) submitted comments on Mar. 19, 2007 to Chairman John Dingell (D-Mich.) of the Committee on Energy and Commerce regarding a national greenhouse gas (GHG) control program that is being reviewed by Congress. SWANA wanted to make sure that the Congress was aware that improved solid waste management practices can significantly reduce the emission of GHG that contribute to global warming and climate change. The Association also made several recommendations about the desired characteristics of any of any GHG program that Congress might develop.

INTERNATIONAL SOLID WASTE ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES NEW MANAGING DIRECTOR Friday, March 16, 2007 (697 reads)
Copenhagen, Denmark--The International Solid Waste Association (ISWA) has appointed W. Gregory Vogt to be the new Managing Director of its global organization. Vogt assumed the role on April 1. He replaces Mrs. Suzanne Arup Veltzé who held the position since 1 August 1997. Mrs. Veltzé continues on as Managing Director of DAKOFA, the Danish Waste Management Association. Mr. Vogt is based in metropolitan Washington, D.C.
