The SWANA Road-E-O is a competition that puts drivers’ skills to the test on a competitive course designed to measure the driver’s skill behind the wheel as well as knowledge of safety regulations and equipment. The Road-E-0 promotes professionalism on the part of drivers and mechanics in the field and creates a spirit of competition and goodwill throughout the participating chapters.
Local chapters organize their own regional Road-E-O’s each year. The first and second place winners have the privilege of participating in the International competition and compete amongst the best in the field. The International Road-E-O is usually held a month after WASTECON.
Winners receive cash prizes and special recognition from their employers. Local papers cover the events and despite the competitive spirit, the Road-E-O remains a community outreach even that brings together families, co-workers, and professionals.
